The Lord is known by the judgment He executes;
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Psalm 9:16
Another translation put it this way; The Lord is known for His justice, the wicked are trapped by their own deeds.
As I look at events happening in our world today, I am reminded of how easily people including us, can be lead astray. How partial truths and misinformation, when that is our only source, leads us straight into a trap.
How important it is to test all things by the truth of scripture. Scripture is not just an opinion or a partial truth with a hidden agenda. It is the true light that reveals all false motives, and evil of every kind lurking in the darkness.
The most dangerous thing about a snare is that you can see through it. All you see is a continuous path. When you step into a snare it doesn't immediately spring upon you, it slowly tightens with each step. If you were to stop the snare stops. But as you try to move in any direction it begins to tighten until it becomes fatal.
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. This verse seems to go along with the verse that says "there is a way that seems right to a man but the end there of is death." Another verse speaks of an evil man digging a pit and then being the one to fall into it.
It grieves my heart to see people suffer, but it grieves my heart even more when I see it is a result of misinformation and partial truths that people have beieved. They've stepped into the snare and it's been around them and then when there is an emergency or immediate threat, they try to run and it's too late, and they suffer the consequences.
This can describe individuals. It can describe citizens of communities and cities. It can describe us as states, and this can describe us as a nation. In every case the remedy is always the same. Test all things and hold onto what is good. There is only one measuring stick that matters. There is only one truth and that is God and His word.
Heavenly Father I pray today for the people in California who are losing their homes to fire. I pray Father that in the midst of this tragedy you will draw individuals to Yourself. I pray that You will bring comfort to those who are grieving, hope to those who have lost all hope. Father your Word has been the anvil which men have beat against throughout time and yet it stands as Truth. May you draw people to it and thus to Yourself. May you continue to draw men out of the darkness and into the marvelous light of Jesus Christ. AMEN AMEN.
